A man who soon became Yoshimura was known as Kuzen. Kuzen was a ghoul who lived a regretful life. To survive, he had to consume humans, but he went the extra mile and devoured ghouls as well. As Kuzen's strength and abilities increased, his name and reputation had become well-known and spread far and wide. An organisation that went by the name V offered Kuzen a position of ‘cleaner’. By accepting V’s offer, Kuzen satisfied his hunger and expenses by wiping out rival human and ghoul organisations. He did not see the organisation as a home, and so he lived a solitary life. However upon meeting a human woman named Ukina, Kuzen gradually opened up to her.

Eventually, Ukina was able to find out Kuzen’s try identity. Kuzen considered killing her, but Ukina saw how lonely his life had been and accepted him. This deepened his love for Ukina and the two became lovers. Ukina was eventually pregnant with Kuzen’s child. Chosen wanted to have the child, but he knew the child would starve to death within the womb. He frankly informed Ukina about the miracle that needed to happen in order for the child to survive. Throughout her pregnancy, Ukina ate human meat to increase the child’s survival rate. 

Together they raised their child, one day Kuzen noticed Ukina’s diary and discovered that Ukina was a journalist who was chasing V. Both Kuzen and Ukina were not aware of this but met by chance. V eventually discovered they relationship and ordered Kuzen to kill Ukina to protect themselves. Since the organisation was to strong to oppose, Kuzen killed Ukina. After her death, Kuzen left V and decided to leave his child in the 24th ward knowing that the child was far away from V.
